Routine visits can be arranged for vaccinations against equine influenza and tetanus. This is an ideal time to discuss anything with one of our vets, such as worming or dental treatment for your horse.
The vaccination course for equines is strictly controlled with set intervals for injections and it is important that the correct timing between injections is met otherwise the course has to be restarted.
The vaccination course is:
- The first vaccination is given (usually at around six months of age), and must be followed by:
- A second vaccination between 21 and 92 days after first
- A third vaccination between 150 and 215 days after second
- An annual booster must be given on or before 365 days after the third vaccination/previous year’s booster.
For more information on the vaccination process, or for any related advice or to book an appointment, please contact your local practice where a veterinary surgeon will be able to help.
